The Kapor Center

The Kapor Center is a community of organizations, both for profit and non-profit, committed to positive social impact. They spur innovation and risk-taking in approaches to solving complex societal issues and to creating new enterprises.

Kapor Center Oakland Mural Unveiling Video

Bay Area social and environmental justice organizations and community members came together to celebrate the unveiling of the "It's Time" Kapor Center mural by Favianna Rodriguez in uptown Oakland (2148 Broadway), and to join forces for a better planet and a healthier community.

Kapor Center Postcard Flyers

Kapor Center Postcard Flyers

After we got the It's Time murals up on the walls of the Kapor Center, we figured it would make sense to let the large scale murals make their ways into the hands of others in the community. As a result, we created simple 4x6 postcards that we put around the office, leave at events, and hand out at conferences.

Kapor Center Speaker Series: Rodolfo Mendoza

Kapor Center Speaker Series: Rodolfo Mendoza

We host a monthly lunchtime speaker series here at the Kapor Center. December's luncheon featured Rodolfo Mendoza Denton, who is an associate professor of Psychology at UC Berkeley and studies stigma and its implications for education. He spoke to the Kapor Center about the ways feelings of inclusion and belonging affect academic performance and the decisions that minority students make about their professional trajectories.

"It's Time" - The Kapor Center Mural Video

This video is about The Kapor Center mural created by Favianna Rodriguez and commissioned by Mitchell Kapor Foundation.  It was a really interesting project for me because I got the chance to meet Favianna Rodriguez, a talented Oakland-based artist, and learn about the organizations represented in the mural that are doing great work across the board.

Our Holiday Party - Save the Date Design

Our Holiday Party - Save the Date Design

Our very sane event planners at the Kapor Center 543 long ago figured out that the right time for an office holiday party is, in fact, well after the holidays, in January. During the chaos of December, as everyone is putting the wrapping up their travel plans, decorations and gift shopping, it's a blessing not to have to add another event to the calendar, and certainly must make the event planning easier.

Kapor Center Website

Kapor Center Website

There is more and more activity surrounding the development of The Kapor Center in Oakland, so we wanted to create a simple web presence for our soon-to-be home. The goal was to create a relatively simple "starter site" that could provide information on activities transpiring at both our current location and our future Oakland location.

The Kapor Center & Nevis

The Kapor Center & Nevis

Nevis is a free-to-use typeface designed by Ten By Twenty, aka Ed Merritt, that works wonderfully as a clean display font. It's also the typeface we've chosen to represent The Kapor Center as we being to approach the new era of our family of organizations.

"Vote!" Video

"Vote!" Video

This video about a big 'Vote" sign in the windows of The Kapor Center in San Francisco was an exercise in shooting a small amount of footage and producing a short video with quick turnaround time.  Being that the sign was made to remind as many people as possible to vote on election day, the video also needed to be released in a timely manner.

Kapor Center Welcome

Welcome to the Kapor Center

There are so many activities going on within the San Francisco Kapor Center, that it's often hard for our guests and visitors to really get a full view of all that we do here. To this end, we created this quick 60sec motion graphics sequence to explain our work and our family of organizations. The goal was to create something that functions similar to the videos screened in movie theaters just before the feature presentation... "Shh, no talking... Please, quiet your mobile phones".
